Our History

Founded in 1975, Hemel Hempstead Canoe Club has a rich history. Initially known as “Two Rivers Canoe Club,” we moved into our current premises at Nash Mills Recreation Centre on Red Lion Lane. Over the years, we have embraced various paddling disciplines, including marathon, slalom, touring, and canoe polo. At one point, we were ranked among the top six competitive clubs in the UK, producing champions and international paddlers in all disciplines.

Activities and Competitions

Today, our members engage in kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) both recreationally and competitively. We participate in events hosted by other clubs within and outside the region. Our whitewater paddlers enjoy trips to local artificial courses, with an annual whitewater trip being a highlight.

We are affiliated to the UK paddle sport governing body which is Paddle UK and through them our international body, the International Canoe Federation.
