Membership

In order to become a Member you will need to hold a relevant paddling qualification or have sufficient experience to ensure you are safe on the water as an independent paddler. In the latter case, a short assessment by one of our coaches will be required.

If you don’t have any qualifications or suitable experience, you can sign up to one of our Introductory courses that will bring you up to the standard to be a safe, independent paddler.

Membership of Hemel Hempstead Canoe Club entitles you to: compete in Club race events, attend training sessions and subsidised courses, use the boat storage facilities (at an additional cost), hire club boats for off-site usage, and use of the gym.

2024 Fees are listed below.

Membership fees are different if you are member of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing) or not, as this has a direct impact on our Affiliation payment to Paddle UK. Fees shown as (Paddle UK member / Non-Paddle UK member).

*Family membership is defined as 1 or 2 adults an Family membership is defined as 1 or 2 adults

Free – Boat hire for use on the club’s home premises and watercourse

Use of boats off site when not required for coaching, must be authorised by the Club Equipment Officer ideally (or another committee member) beforehand and is subject to agreement to reimburse the club for any loss or damage. There is a suggested donation of £20 per weekend for white water trips.

Free – Use of gym

Free – attendance at Club nights and training sessions (except when charges apply eg pool sessions and miscellaneous courses)
